Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care on a MedSurg/Telemetry unit
• Monitor cardiac telemetry and interpret strips, escalating changes to the care team
• Safely manage IV drips including amiodarone, heparin, Cardizem, fixed-rate insulin, nitro, and dopamine per protocol
• Care for post-op cardiac and stepdown patients including post-cath, pacemaker, PCI, TAVR and CABG patients
• Document care accurately and efficiently in Cerner to support continuity of care
• Float between units as needed while maintaining 1:4 patient ratios and high-quality care
• Collaborate with respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and hospitalists to optimize patient outcomes
• Participate in the unit weekend rotation and holiday schedule alongside permanent staff

Qualifications

• Current RN license in California (license required to submit)
• Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience, preferably in MedSurg/Telemetry or stepdown
• ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Experience with telemetry monitoring and Phillips monitors preferred
• Comfort managing cardiac drips and anticoagulation protocols
• Cerner charting experience preferred
• Ability and willingness to float between units and work every-other-weekend
• COVID vaccination required per employer policy

Education

• Active RN license in California
• BSN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong telemetry interpretation and cardiac monitoring skills
• IV drip management and safe medication titration
• Post-operative cardiac patient care knowledge (TAVR, CABG, PCI, pacemaker)
• Familiarity with heparin/anticoagulation protocols and fixed-rate insulin drips
• Experience with Phillips monitors and nurse-read strips
• Basic familiarity with Bipap/CPAP and respiratory distress management
• Excellent clinical judgment, prioritization, and teamwork skills
• Efficient electronic charting in Cerner
