Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide direct and indirect nursing care to psychiatric inpatients using best-practice modalities
• Maintain a safe, therapeutic milieu grounded in Trauma-Informed Recovery principles
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary treatment team to develop, implement and document individualized treatment plans
• Lead charge responsibilities and support unit operations when assigned
• Float between areas as needed to meet patient care needs and support staffing
• Use effective crisis management and de-escalation techniques to ensure patient and staff safety
• Build trusting therapeutic relationships while maintaining professional boundaries
• Accurately document care and interventions in the Electronic Medical Record

Qualifications

• Active RN license in the State of Massachusetts (required)
• Minimum one year of psychiatric nursing experience (required)
• CPR certification (required)
• Willingness to float and accept charge nurse duties (required)
• Experience with restraint reduction, de-escalation and crisis intervention (preferred)
• Substance use treatment experience in inpatient settings (preferred)
• BSN (preferred)

Education

• Active RN license in Massachusetts
• BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Psychiatric nursing best practices and trauma-informed care
• Crisis management and crisis intervention skills
• Therapeutic communication and ability to build rapport
• Experience with Electronic Medical Records and solid typing/computer skills
• Ability to delegate, coach, and contribute to team building
• Time management, critical thinking, and clinical decision-making
• Familiarity with substance use treatment modalities and behavioral health interventions
