Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate hands-on care to geriatric residents, assisting with activities of daily living
- Monitor residents’ condition and promptly report changes to nursing staff
- Support safe transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
- Document care accurately and courteously in resident charts and shift reports
- Help create a comfortable, dignified environment that promotes resident independence
- Collaborate with the care team to follow care plans and participate in resident-focused activities
Qualifications
- Current GNA / Geriatric Nursing Assistant certification
- CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Experience working with older adults or in long-term care settings preferred
- Ability to pass background checks and required health screenings
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a team-first attitude
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to resident safety and dignity
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited GNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Assisting with ADLs (bathing, dressing, feeding, toileting) with compassion
- Basic resident observation and reporting skills
- Safe transfer and fall-prevention techniques
- Infection control and hand hygiene best practices
- Accurate documentation and time management during shifts
- Team collaboration and effective communication with nursing staff and families
