Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents—assist with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming and toileting
- Support safe mobility and transfers using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
- Observe residents closely and report any changes in condition to the nursing team promptly
- Document care clearly and accurately to keep the care plan up to date
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists and family members to deliver person-centered rehab care
- Maintain a clean, dignified environment that promotes resident comfort and safety
- Assist with meal setup and feeding support as needed, honoring dietary needs and preferences
Qualifications
- GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) or equivalent state-approved nursing assistant credential
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain upon hire
- Prior experience in long-term care, skilled nursing or rehab settings preferred
- Ability to pass required background checks, drug screening and facility onboarding
- Strong interpersonal skills and a patient, compassionate approach to elder care
- Reliable transportation and readiness to work the assigned evening shift
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- GNA certification or state-approved nursing assistant training
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of geriatric care principles and basic rehab support
- Comfortable with safe patient handling, transfers and ambulation assistance
- Familiarity with infection control practices and hand hygiene standards
- Clear verbal and written communication for reporting and documentation
- Time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs during a shift
- Teamwork mindset and a positive attitude when supporting interdisciplinary care
