Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate daily care to residents, assisting with activities of daily living to preserve dignity and comfort
- Monitor residents’ condition and report changes to the nursing team promptly
- Support safe mobility and fall prevention through attentive assistance and proper technique
- Assist with feeding, bathing, dressing, toileting and grooming while fostering independence
- Document care activities accurately and timely in the resident record
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists and family members to deliver person-centered care
- Help maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment for residents
Qualifications
- Valid Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification; current state certification or ability to obtain Maryland credentials
- Current CPR/BLS certification or willingness to obtain prior to start
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening as required by the facility
- Strong communication and teamwork skills; empathy and patience with older adults
- Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings is a plus but enthusiastic learners are welcome
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of basic geriatric care principles and ADLs
- Familiarity with infection control and resident safety practices
- Basic charting and documentation skills
- Good interpersonal skills for working with residents, families and clinical teams
- Ability to follow care plans and communicate changes clearly
