Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate daily care to geriatric residents, focusing on dignity and comfort
• Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting) with patience and respect
• Monitor and report changes in residents’ condition to the nursing team for timely interventions
• Document care accurately and timely in the resident record to support continuity of care
• Support safe mobility and fall prevention through proper transfer and ambulation assistance
• Help create a warm, engaging environment by encouraging participation in activities and social interaction
• Follow infection control and safety protocols to protect residents and staff

Qualifications

• Current GNA certification (or state equivalent) — required
• CPR/BLS certification — required or must obtain prior to start
• Previous experience in long-term care or geriatrics preferred but not strictly required
• Comfortable working evening shifts and collaborating with a multidisciplinary care team
• Valid state nurse aide registry status for Maryland or ability to obtain prior to assignment

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of an approved GNA training program

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
• Skilled in assisting with ADLs and safe patient handling
• Ability to take and record vital signs accurately
• Strong communication and team collaboration skills
• Basic charting and documentation skills
• Understanding of infection prevention and safety procedures
