Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess patients quickly and accurately to prioritize care and improve outcomes
- Administer medications and treatments safely while following evidence-based protocols
- Perform trauma and emergency nursing interventions using TNCC principles when needed
- Apply stroke assessment skills (NIHSS) to identify and escalate acute neurologic changes
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient-centered care
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses clearly and timely in the medical record
- Participate in Trinity specialty competency testing and skills checklists to maintain high standards
- Provide compassionate patient and family education to support recovery and discharge planning
Qualifications
- Active RN license (Iowa) — license/certificate verification required
- BLS (required)
- PALS (required)
- ACLS (required)
- TNCC (required)
- NIHSS certification (required)
- Completion of Trinity specialty competency testing and skills checklist
- Ability to complete required health screenings: fit test, 10-panel drug screen, immunizations (Tdap, COVID-19, MMR, Hep B, Influenza, Varicella) and 2-step PPD or IGRA
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking in acute care settings
- Emergency and trauma nursing skills aligned with TNCC and ACLS/PALS standards
- Stroke recognition and NIHSS scoring proficiency
- Clear, compassionate communication with patients, families, and care teams
- Accurate documentation and familiarity with electronic health records
- Teamwork, adaptability, and the ability to work effectively on rotating schedules
