Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts: Day 3x12 (07:00 AM - 07:30 PM) and Night 3x12 (07:00 PM - 07:30 AM); typically 3 consecutive shifts, includes weekends and required float coverage to James MICU/UH MICU/SICU or PCU as assigned

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide expert, compassionate critical care for adult SICU/Oncology patients, including complex neurologic and multisystem cases
- Manage advanced respiratory support including ventilators, HFNC, BiPAP and CPAP and perform bedside ventilator troubleshooting
- Operate and monitor CRRT/CVVHD and manage patients with acute renal failure
- Administer and manage vasoactive drips and titrate vasopressors safely according to protocol
- Perform vascular access tasks: arterial lines, central lines, PICC management, blood product administration and IV therapies
- Respond to rapid response and massive transfusion situations with calm, decisive action
- Use EPIC for accurate, timely charting and interdisciplinary communication
- Collaborate with respiratory therapy, pharmacy, PT, social work and other teams to deliver coordinated care
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required (oncology experience preferred but not required)
- EPIC charting experience required
- Current ACLS, BLS and NIHSS certifications required
- Prior travel nurse experience required — first-time travelers not accepted for this role
- Comfort with mechanical ventilation, CRRT, arterial/central line management and blood product administration
- Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required per facility guideline
- Willingness to float between units as needed and complete a 72-hour orientation
Knowledge & Skills
- Critical care fundamentals: hemodynamic monitoring, shock management (hemorrhagic, hypovolemic, septic), ARDS and multisystem organ dysfunction
- Ventilator management, interpretation of ABGs and suctioning (ETT/NT)
- Vascular access and line care: arterial lines, central lines, PICCs, and blood transfusions
- CRRT/CVVHD operation and troubleshooting
- Titration of vasoactive and cardiac drips, continuous IV sedation, and IV insulin protocols
- Neurologic monitoring including ICP monitoring and EVD management
- Infection prevention, isolation precautions and wound/Vac care
- Strong dysrhythmia interpretation and management skills
