Shift Type: Rotating day shifts (12-hour: 6:00 AM - 6:30 PM; 9-hour: 9:00 AM - 6:30 PM; 10-hour: 8:00 AM - 6:30 PM), Monday-Sunday coverage with scheduled rotations. 36-40 hours/week plus on-call: overnight call approximately every 1-2 weeks and weekend call approximately every 4-5th weekend. Shift type: rotating (day) with on-call duties.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered surgical nursing care throughout the perioperative continuum
• Assess, monitor, and document patient condition before, during, and after surgery
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and multidisciplinary team members to coordinate safe care
• Participate actively in the on-call rotation, responding to overnight and weekend needs as scheduled
• Perform specialty-specific competencies and maintain skill checklists to support clinical excellence
• Educate patients and families about procedures, recovery expectations, and discharge planning
• Adhere to infection control, safety protocols, and hospital policy to protect patients and staff

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license (ability to verify licensure required)
• BLS certification (required)
• NIHSS certification (listed as required)
• Surgical nursing experience and comfort working 12-hour shifts and on-call rotation
• Successful completion of Trinity specialty competency testing and skills checklist
• Ability to pass required health screenings (Fit test, drug screen) and immunization requirements

Education

• Nursing diploma, Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN), or BSN (typical for RN roles); active RN license required

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative and surgical patient care knowledge
• Strong patient assessment and clinical decision-making skills
• Effective communication and teamwork in high-acuity settings
• Familiarity with clinical documentation and electronic medical records
• Infection control best practices and sterile technique
• Ability to manage priorities during busy shifts and emergency situations
