Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on care to residents, focusing on dignity and comfort
• Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility
• Monitor and record vital signs, intake/output, and resident behaviors accurately
• Support safe transfers and fall prevention measures with attentive technique
• Document care in the charting system and communicate changes to the nursing team
• Collaborate with colleagues and families to promote individualized care plans
• Maintain infection control and safety standards to protect residents and staff

Qualifications

• Current GNA certification or equivalent required; Maryland certification preferred or eligible
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification required or obtainable prior to start
• Experience working with geriatric or long-term care populations preferred
• Ability to pass background checks and required health screenings
• Strong communication skills and a patient, compassionate bedside manner

Education

• High school diploma or GED required
• Completion of an approved GNA training program

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care principles and dementia-sensitive approaches
• Skilled in safe resident handling and mobility assistance
• Proficient at taking and documenting vital signs accurately
• Familiarity with infection control practices and resident safety protocols
• Team-oriented with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
