Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts, 06:30 AM - 07:00 PM (days) and 06:30 PM - 07:00 AM (nights); cyclic schedule with every-other weekend and 1 major / 1 minor holiday requirement; primarily 12-hour nights available

Roles & Responsibilities
- Monitor telemetry continuously and interpret cardiac strips to identify changes quickly and accurately
- Titrate cardiac drips safely and according to protocol (e.g., Cardizem, amiodarone, nitroglycerin)
- Provide focused assessments and interventions for patients with heart failure, Afib, respiratory distress, and stroke
- Manage CPAP troubleshooting and collaborate with respiratory therapy for complex respiratory cases
- Document thorough, timely patient care in EPIC and communicate status updates to the interdisciplinary team
- Function as a unit nurse while supporting charge duties as assigned and float to ICU when needed
- Participate in orientation, demonstrate competency on skills, and complete the open-book orientation exam
Qualifications
- Active RN license (eligible to practice in Iowa) — required
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (telemetry/stepdown or ICU experience preferred)
- Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS — must be current at time of submission
- Driver's license required at submittal (used to confirm 50-mile radius eligibility)
- Comfort titrating drips and managing cardiac meds including Cardizem, amiodarone, and nitroglycerin
- Willingness to float to ICU when appropriate and demonstrated competence for higher-acuity care
- Successful completion of the orientation pass/fail exam (open-book) — 90% required to pass
- Adherence to facility policies (example: artificial nails prohibited for patient care areas)
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry/monitoring and independent cardiac strip interpretation
- Cardiac drip titration and safe medication management
- CPAP troubleshooting and basic respiratory support collaboration
- Familiarity with EPIC charting and acute-care documentation
- Strong assessment skills for heart failure, Afib, stroke, and respiratory distress patients
- Ability to work in a fast-paced unit with frequent admits and discharges
- Teamwork, positive attitude, and patient-focused communication
