Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert labor and delivery care in the Family Birthing Center and LDRP unit
• Monitor maternal and fetal status using EFM (Fetalink) and intervene per AWHONN guidelines
• Perform neonatal stabilization and lead NRP at deliveries when pediatric coverage is not in-house
• Titrate titratable drips such as Pitocin (and occasional insulin) safely and per protocol
• Circulate in the OR for C-sections when assigned and collaborate with anesthesia and OB teams
• Serve as charge nurse or shift manager when needed, coordinating staffing and patient flow
• Document accurately in Cerner and communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
• Float to other Sacramento facilities as required and support unit needs on weekends/holidays

Qualifications

• Current, active RN license (California)
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring
• Minimum 1 year LDRP (Labor/Delivery/Recovery/Postpartum) experience required, 3 years preferred in this setting
• Comfortable and competent performing NRP at delivery; must be able to manage neonatal stabilization without in-house pediatric coverage
• OR circulating experience required for L&D-only candidates
• Ability to titrate drips safely and follow unit protocols
• Willingness to work weekend and holiday rotations and float to other Sacramento facilities
• Candidates must not have been directly employed (FT, PT, PRN) by a CommonSpirit (CHI/Dignity) facility within the last 12 months

Education

• Active RN license in California
• BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Labor & Delivery workflows and Mother/Baby couplets care
• Advanced fetal monitoring (AWHONN Adv EFM) and Fetalink experience
• Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) and neonatal stabilization techniques
• Experience with Cerner electronic health record charting
• Ventilator/CPAP/bubble CPAP familiarity and collaborating with RT for respiratory support
• Charge nurse / shift leadership skills and unit coordination
• Ability to manage high-volume births (70–80/month) and NST/antepartum testing
• Comfort with twin deliveries and care escalation for preterm patients
