Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming) with dignity and respect
• Support safe mobility and transfers, using proper body mechanics and equipment
• Monitor residents’ condition and report changes to nursing staff promptly
• Measure and record vital signs and intake/output accurately
• Document care provided clearly and timely in the resident chart
• Help create a calm, comfortable environment and engage residents in meaningful activities
• Follow infection control and safety protocols to protect residents and staff

Qualifications

• Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification in the state of Maryland
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification — or willingness to obtain
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Up-to-date immunizations and negative TB test per facility policy
• Ability to pass background check and drug screening as required
• Compassionate approach and prior experience working with older adults is a plus

Education

• High school diploma or GED
• Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification/license

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of resident-centered geriatric care and dignity-preserving practices
• Strong communication and teamwork skills for coordinating with nurses and families
• Basic clinical skills: vitals, feeding assistance, toileting, and mobility support
• Familiarity with documentation best practices and basic charting
• Attention to detail, time management, and reliable attendance
