Roles & Responsibilities
- Deliver respiratory therapy services as prescribed by provider orders with skill and compassion
- Operate and manage respiratory equipment, ensuring safe ventilator support when required
- Perform patient assessments, monitor respiratory status, and adjust therapy per protocol
- Document treatments and patient responses clearly and promptly in Epic
- Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and the care team to optimize patient outcomes
- Educate patients and families about respiratory care, inhaler techniques, and discharge plans
- Maintain infection control and safety standards while handling body fluids and exposure risks
- Support medication workflows that interact with Pyxis and follow hospital policies
Qualifications
- Must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) — CRTs will not be accepted
- Ohio RCP license required prior to start
- BLS from the American Heart Association required (AHA BLS only)
- Familiarity with Epic and Pyxis required for documentation and medication workflows
- Ability to communicate effectively face-to-face, by phone, and via email
- Capable of intermittent sitting, standing, stooping and lifting up to 25 pounds as needed
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong clinical knowledge of respiratory therapy practices and patient assessment
- Proficient documentation skills in Epic
- Experience with medication workflows and supply systems like Pyxis
- Infection control practices and safe handling of body fluids
- Good manual dexterity for equipment operation and charting
- Team communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
