Roles & Responsibilities

• Circulate in the operating room to ensure smooth, safe surgical procedures
• Coordinate patient care and maintain aseptic technique throughout the case
• Anticipate surgical team needs and prepare equipment and instrumentation
• Perform patient assessments and support safe positioning and transfers
• Communicate clearly with surgeons, anesthesia, and perioperative staff
• Document intraoperative care and complete required competency checklists
• Respond to on-call situations for nights and weekends with professionalism

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (able to work in Iowa)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required)
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification (required)
• Experience as an OR circulator or in perioperative nursing (preferred)
• Ability to complete Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing and Skills Checklist
• Must be able to pass Trinity 10-panel drug screen, fit test, and required immunizations
• On-call availability for nights and weekends

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of sterile technique and OR safety protocols
• Proficiency in patient assessment and intraoperative monitoring
• Skilled at anticipating surgeon needs and managing OR workflow
• Comfortable with documentation and perioperative competency processes
• Team-oriented communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to handle urgent situations calmly during on-call coverage
