Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered care during overnight hours, keeping patients safe and comfortable
• Perform thorough assessments and timely interventions for changes in patient condition
• Administer medications and treatments accurately, following policy and best practices
• Document care clearly and completely in the patient record to ensure smooth handoffs
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care plans and discharge needs
• Educate patients and families with clarity and empathy to support recovery and self-care
• Support unit operations overnight, including admissions, transfers, and urgent responses

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse license (active) — must be eligible to practice in North Carolina
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS or PALS preferred where applicable
• Experience in acute care settings or similar is a plus (preferred, not mandatory)
• Strong clinical assessment skills, medication competency, and effective communication
• Ability to work independently overnight and collaborate during shift handoffs

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
• BSN preferred but ADN considered

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of medical-surgical nursing principles and overnight patient management
• Medication administration and IV therapy skills
• Comfortable with electronic medical record documentation and computerized charting
• Prioritization, critical thinking, and the ability to respond to emergent situations
• Team-oriented mindset with clear verbal and written communication
