Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, resident-centered care that preserves dignity and independence
• Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, toileting, and mobility
• Monitor and report changes in resident condition to nursing staff promptly
• Document care accurately and timely in the resident record
• Support safe transfer and positioning techniques to reduce injury
• Help create a warm, social environment through friendly interaction and activity participation
• Adhere to infection control practices and facility policies to keep residents safe

Qualifications

• Current GNA certification (or eligible) required in Maryland
• CPR/BLS certification preferred or required per facility policy
• Ability to pass background check and drug screening as required
• Up-to-date immunizations per facility requirements
• Comfortable working with older adult populations and long-term care residents
• Strong communication and teamwork skills; dependable and compassionate

Education

• High school diploma or GED required
• Completion of an approved GNA training program and current certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
• Skilled in assisting with ADLs and safe patient handling
• Basic charting and documentation skills; familiarity with electronic health records a plus
• Knowledge of infection prevention, fall prevention, and resident safety practices
• Ability to prioritize tasks and respond calmly in urgent situations
• Customer-service mindset when interacting with residents and families
