Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, resident-centered care that preserves dignity and independence
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, toileting, and mobility
- Monitor and report changes in resident condition to nursing staff promptly
- Document care accurately and timely in the resident record
- Support safe transfer and positioning techniques to reduce injury
- Help create a warm, social environment through friendly interaction and activity participation
- Adhere to infection control practices and facility policies to keep residents safe
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification (or eligible) required in Maryland
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or required per facility policy
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening as required
- Up-to-date immunizations per facility requirements
- Comfortable working with older adult populations and long-term care residents
- Strong communication and teamwork skills; dependable and compassionate
Education
- High school diploma or GED required
- Completion of an approved GNA training program and current certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
- Skilled in assisting with ADLs and safe patient handling
- Basic charting and documentation skills; familiarity with electronic health records a plus
- Knowledge of infection prevention, fall prevention, and resident safety practices
- Ability to prioritize tasks and respond calmly in urgent situations
- Customer-service mindset when interacting with residents and families
