Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate personal care and daily living assistance to geriatric residents
- Assist with bathing, grooming, dressing, feeding, and mobility with dignity
- Monitor residents’ condition and report changes promptly to the nursing team
- Support safe transfers and ambulation, using proper body mechanics and lift equipment
- Document care accurately and communicate effectively with interdisciplinary staff
- Create warm, person-centered interactions that enhance residents’ quality of life
Qualifications
- Certified Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) or equivalent state certification
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain promptly
- Prior experience working with elderly residents or in long-term care is highly valued
- Able to pass facility background checks and required health screenings
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required; GNA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of basic geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
- Skill in safe resident handling, transfer techniques, and mobility assistance
- Ability to follow care plans, chart accurately, and report observations
- Compassionate bedside manner and patience with memory-impaired residents
- Time management skills to balance care tasks during the shift
