Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility with dignity and compassion
• Provide routine care and support for geriatric patients, focusing on comfort and safety
• Monitor and record vital signs and any changes in condition accurately and timely
• Document care provided and communicate observations to the nursing team and charge nurse
• Support residents during mealtimes and assist with feeding when necessary
• Help create a calm, respectful environment and engage residents in social and therapeutic activities
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to support individualized care plans

Qualifications

• Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification or equivalent (Maryland certification preferred or eligible)
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification required or willing to obtain
• Completion of an approved GNA training program and competency in geriatric care
• Ability to pass background checks, drug screen, and required health screenings (TB, immunizations)
• Comfort working overnight shifts and in long-term care settings
• Strong communication skills, patience, and a team-first attitude

Education

• High school diploma or GED
• Successful completion of an approved GNA program or equivalent training

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of activities of daily living (ADLs) and geriatric care best practices
• Skill in taking and recording vital signs and observing changes in condition
• Familiarity with infection control, safe patient handling, and documentation standards
• Ability to work compassionately with residents who have dementia or mobility challenges
• Good teamwork, time management, and interpersonal skills
