Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming and mobility
- Provide compassionate, person-centered care that preserves dignity and independence
- Monitor and record resident conditions including vital signs and behavioral observations
- Collaborate with the care team to implement individualized care plans
- Maintain a safe, clean environment and follow infection control procedures
- Document care accurately and promptly in facility records
- Support mealtimes and hydration needs, observing dietary restrictions and assistance levels
Qualifications
- Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) or state Nursing Assistant certification required
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Ability to pass background check and required health screenings
- Up-to-date immunizations per facility policy
- Comfortable working overnight hours and providing hands-on resident care
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred; required GNA/CNA certification by state
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of elder care principles and common geriatric conditions
- Skill in safe resident handling and mobility assistance
- Basic clinical observation skills including measuring and reporting vital signs
- Familiarity with infection prevention and control practices
- Clear documentation and time management abilities
- Compassionate interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with residents respectfully
