Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, person-centered care to geriatric residents, supporting dignity and comfort
• Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
• Support mobility and safe transfers while following appropriate body mechanics and lift protocols
• Monitor and report changes in resident condition to nursing staff promptly and clearly
• Accurately document care activities, observations, and resident responses in charts or electronic records
• Help maintain a safe, clean, and respectful environment for residents and visitors
• Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and family members to support individualized care plans
• Participate in shift handoffs and contribute to a positive team culture

Qualifications

• Active Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification in Maryland, or eligibility to obtain
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings is a plus
• Ability to pass background checks, TB screening, and required immunizations
• Strong communication skills, empathy, and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• State GNA certification (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Comfortable assisting with ADLs and supporting mobility
• Basic knowledge of infection control and safe handling procedures
• Accurate documentation and attention to detail
• Good observational skills to recognize changes in resident condition
• Teamwork, time management, and a calm approach during busy shifts
• Respect for resident rights, dignity, and confidentiality (HIPAA awareness)
