Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate hands-on care to residents, assisting with activities of daily living like bathing, dressing, and mobility
• Monitor and record vital signs and changes in condition, communicating observations to nursing staff
• Support safe transfers and proper use of mobility aids to preserve resident dignity and independence
• Assist with meal service and feeding as needed, following dietary and safety guidelines
• Keep resident rooms and common areas tidy and comfortable while respecting privacy
• Document resident care accurately in charts and communicate effectively during shift handoffs
• Build trusting relationships with residents and their families through patient, respectful interactions

Qualifications

• Current GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) in good standing
• High school diploma or GED (see education section)
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Ability to pass background checks and meet facility health requirements (vaccinations, TB screening)
• Comfortable working overnight hours and supporting a geriatric population
• Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude

Education

• High school diploma or GED required
• GNA certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of activities of daily living (ADLs) and basic geriatric care principles
• Basic vital signs competency and infection control practices
• Familiarity with safe patient handling and transfer techniques
• Clear, compassionate communication with residents, families, and care teams
• Timely and accurate documentation skills
• Ability to prioritize tasks and stay calm in a busy overnight setting
