Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living—bathing, dressing, grooming—with dignity and compassion
• Provide safe transfer and mobility support, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Monitor resident well-being and report changes promptly to nursing staff
• Support mealtime assistance and basic feeding as needed according to care plans
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care and observations
• Follow infection control protocols and promote a clean, safe environment
• Collaborate with the care team to create a warm, person-centered experience for each resident

Qualifications

• Current GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) required
• State registration or credential as required by Maryland regulations
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or required per facility policy
• Ability to pass background check, drug screen, and provide required immunizations
• Compassionate attitude, strong communication skills, and ability to work as part of a team
• Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings is a plus

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• GNA certification (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of geriatric care principles and best practices
• Ability to safely assist with mobility and transfers
• Strong observational skills to notice changes in resident condition
• Good documentation and basic charting skills
• Effective verbal communication with residents, families, and clinical team
• Familiarity with infection prevention and safety standards
