Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living—bathing, dressing, grooming—with dignity and compassion
- Provide safe transfer and mobility support, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
- Monitor resident well-being and report changes promptly to nursing staff
- Support mealtime assistance and basic feeding as needed according to care plans
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care and observations
- Follow infection control protocols and promote a clean, safe environment
- Collaborate with the care team to create a warm, person-centered experience for each resident
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) required
- State registration or credential as required by Maryland regulations
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or required per facility policy
- Ability to pass background check, drug screen, and provide required immunizations
- Compassionate attitude, strong communication skills, and ability to work as part of a team
- Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings is a plus
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- GNA certification (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of geriatric care principles and best practices
- Ability to safely assist with mobility and transfers
- Strong observational skills to notice changes in resident condition
- Good documentation and basic charting skills
- Effective verbal communication with residents, families, and clinical team
- Familiarity with infection prevention and safety standards
