Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on assistance with activities of daily living for geriatric residents
- Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, and toileting while preserving dignity
- Observe and report changes in residents’ condition to licensed nursing staff promptly
- Support mobility and transfers safely using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
- Document care activities accurately and timely in resident records
- Help create a warm, home-like environment and engage residents in social activities
- Follow infection control, safety, and facility policies to protect residents and staff
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification (Class: GNA) — required
- Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings preferred
- Basic life support (BLS/CPR) preferred or willing to obtain
- Ability to pass facility background checks and required health screenings
- Strong communication skills and a patient, compassionate approach
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited GNA program
Knowledge & Skills
- Familiarity with resident-centered care and geriatric needs
- Basic knowledge of infection control and safety procedures
- Comfortable assisting with ADLs and using lift/transfer techniques
- Good documentation and observation skills
- Team-player mindset and ability to collaborate with nurses and therapists
