Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming) with dignity and respect
- Support mobility and safe transfers to help residents stay active and independent
- Monitor and record vital signs and any changes in condition accurately
- Provide compassionate companionship and engage residents in meaningful activities
- Follow care plans and communicate observations to the nursing team promptly
- Maintain a clean, safe environment and adhere to infection control procedures
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary staff to deliver person-centered care
Qualifications
- Current GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification required
- CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain) preferred
- Ability to pass background check, TB test, and required immunizations
- Comfortable working with older adults and supporting mobility-limited residents
- Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude
- Previous long-term care or geriatric experience a plus, recent clinical experience welcomed
Education
- High school diploma or GED required
- GNA certification or state-equivalent required
Knowledge & Skills
- Gentle, patient-focused personal care techniques for older adults
- Basic clinical skills: vital signs, toileting, feeding assistance
- Documentation and charting practices for long-term care settings
- Infection control, PPE use, and safe handling procedures
- Observation skills to identify changes in mood, behavior, or health
- Effective communication with residents, families, and care teams
