Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents — assist with bathing, dressing, toileting, and grooming
• Support mobility and safe transfers to keep residents moving comfortably
• Observe residents closely and report changes in condition to the nursing team
• Assist with meals and feeding as needed, ensuring dignity and respect
• Document care activities accurately and timely to support continuity of care
• Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and families to create a warm, person-centered environment

Qualifications

• Current GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification — Maryland certification preferred or eligible to obtain
• CPR/BLS certification preferred (or willing to obtain)
• Comfortable working with older adults and committed to compassionate care
• Ability to pass background check and meet facility immunization requirements
• Strong communication skills and a team-player attitude

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of an approved GNA training program or state-recognized equivalent

Knowledge & Skills

• Familiarity with activities of daily living (ADLs) and geriatric care best practices
• Safe resident handling and transfer techniques
• Basic infection control and PPE usage
• Good observation and reporting skills to recognize changes in resident condition
• Time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs during a shift
