Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents with dignity and respect
- Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, grooming, dressing, and mobility
- Monitor residents’ condition and report changes promptly to the care team
- Support mealtimes and safe feeding practices, honoring dietary needs and preferences
- Create comfortable, safe environments by following infection control and safety protocols
- Document care activities accurately and communicate effectively with nurses and families
- Build trusting relationships with residents by listening, engaging, and promoting independence
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification (required) — you know your scope and you own it
- Active Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Comfortable working with elderly populations and sensitive to geriatric needs
- Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to providing respectful, resident-centered care
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred; GNA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Hands-on experience with ADLs and safe transfer techniques
- Vital signs monitoring and basic clinical observation
- Infection control practices and proper PPE use
- Clear documentation and charting habits
- Compassionate interpersonal skills and de-escalation techniques
- Ability to follow care plans and collaborate with licensed nursing staff
