Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate personal care and support to geriatric residents, preserving dignity and independence
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming, feeding)
- Monitor and report changes in resident condition to the nursing team promptly
- Accurately document care, observations and interventions in resident records
- Support safe mobility and fall-prevention measures while encouraging activity and engagement
- Follow infection control and safety protocols to protect residents and staff
- Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary team members to deliver coordinated care
- Participate in shift handoffs to ensure continuity and quality of care
Qualifications
- Active GNA certification (required)
- Current basic life support (BLS/CPR) preferred or willing to obtain
- Comfort working nights with older adult populations and geriatric-specific needs
- Ability to pass background check, drug screen and meet facility onboarding requirements
- Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude
Education
- High school diploma or GED required
- Completion of a Geriatric Nursing Assistant program or approved training (GNA)
Knowledge & Skills
- Hands-on experience assisting with ADLs and mobility support
- Understanding of basic geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
- Accurate documentation and charting skills
- Infection control best practices
- Good observational skills to notice changes in resident status
- Compassionate bedside manner and patience
