Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, person-centered care to geriatric residents and help them maintain dignity
- Assist residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing and grooming
- Support safe mobility and transfers, using proper techniques and equipment
- Observe and report changes in resident condition to the nursing team in a timely manner
- Document care accurately and clearly following facility policies
- Help maintain a clean, safe and comfortable living environment for residents
- Collaborate with nursing staff, therapists and families to deliver coordinated care
- Follow infection control, safety and privacy practices at all times
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification or completed Geriatric Nursing Assistant program (required)
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Ability to pass background checks, drug screen and required health screenings
- Previous experience in long-term care or skilled nursing is a plus
- Compassionate attitude, strong communication skills and teamwork mindset
Education
- Completion of a GNA or nurse aide training program; High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of geriatric care principles and respectful dementia care approaches
- Basic clinical skills such as taking vitals and reporting changes
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail
- Clear documentation and time management abilities
- Excellent interpersonal skills for working with residents and families
- Ability to follow care plans and safety protocols reliably
