Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate hands-on care to residents, assisting with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding
- Assist with safe transfers and mobility support to maximize resident comfort and independence
- Take and record vital signs and report any clinical changes promptly to the nursing team
- Maintain clear, accurate documentation to support continuity of care
- Support infection control practices and maintain a clean, safe environment for residents
- Engage residents in meaningful activities and social interaction to promote emotional well-being
- Collaborate with RNs, LPNs, and interdisciplinary team members to deliver person-centered care
Qualifications
- Certified Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) or state-equivalent certification
- Current BLS/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain prior to start)
- Up-to-date immunizations and ability to pass required health screenings
- Comfort working with older adults, including residents with dementia or limited mobility
- Clean background check and ability to meet facility onboarding requirements
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an approved GNA training program or equivalent state training
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of activities of daily living (ADLs) support and patient hygiene
- Safe patient handling and transfer techniques
- Basic vital signs measurement and documentation
- Knowledge of infection prevention and control practices
- Ability to recognize and report changes in resident condition
- Compassionate interpersonal skills and patience with elderly populations
- Familiarity with long-term care or skilled nursing workflows
