Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate personal care to geriatric residents, preserving dignity and comfort
- Assist with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Monitor and record vital signs and resident conditions accurately and promptly
- Support safe mobility and transfers, implementing fall-prevention measures
- Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary team to communicate changes in condition
- Maintain clear, timely documentation of care, observations, and resident interactions
- Follow infection control, safety protocols, and facility policies at all times
- Engage residents in meaningful activities and social interaction to enhance quality of life
Qualifications
- Active GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) — Maryland certification preferred or transferable
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or ability to obtain quickly
- Comfortable working night shifts and providing hands-on resident care
- Able to pass background checks, health screenings, and required onboarding checks
- Compassionate communicator with a patient-centered approach to care
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an approved GNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of geriatric care needs, mobility assistance, and safe transfer techniques
- Ability to take and accurately record vital signs and observations
- Familiarity with infection control and personal protective equipment use
- Strong interpersonal skills for working with residents, families, and clinical teams
- Good time management, dependable attendance, and attention to detail
