Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, patient-centered care during overnight hours, ensuring comfort and safety
- Perform thorough assessments and document changes in patient condition promptly
- Administer medications and treatments accurately, following facility protocols
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care and handoffs
- Respond quickly to emergencies and escalate concerns to providers as needed
- Support patient discharge planning and family education with clear, respectful communication
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse license (NC licensure required or compact state privileges)
- Current BLS certification required; ACLS or other specialty certifications encouraged where applicable
- Comfortable with 12+ hour night shifts and able to manage a fast-paced clinical workload
- Previous acute care or med-surg experience preferred; new grads with strong clinical skills may be considered
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse care team
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; LPN candidates should hold an accredited practical nursing diploma or certificate
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong patient assessment and clinical decision-making skills
- Medication administration and IV therapy competence
- Familiarity with electronic medical records and accurate charting
- Ability to prioritize tasks during busy night shifts and respond to urgent situations
- Good interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity for working in a community-focused facility
