Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, resident-centered care to older adults and promote dignity and independence
• Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming and feeding
• Monitor and report changes in resident condition, including vital signs and behavior changes
• Document care accurately and timely in the facility charting system
• Support safe mobility and fall prevention efforts, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary team members to deliver coordinated care
• Follow infection control, safety protocols and facility policies to maintain a healthy environment
• Engage residents socially and provide emotional support to residents and families

Qualifications

• Valid GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) required, or eligible to obtain
• Current CPR/BLS certification required
• Proof of immunizations and TB screening as required by facility
• Clean background check and drug screen per facility policy
• Experience in long-term care or working with geriatric populations preferred
• Strong communication skills, compassion and the ability to work well on a team

Education

• High school diploma or GED required
• GNA certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in assisting with activities of daily living and resident hygiene
• Knowledge of basic vital signs and ability to recognize clinical changes
• Familiarity with dementia care techniques and behavior de-escalation
• Good charting and documentation practices
• Understanding of infection control principles and safe patient handling
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with residents
