Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM; schedule set by leadership on a 6-week cycle (includes 6-9 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule); may include holiday rotation and required float within Zone 3

Candidate Pay Rate: $64 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Serve as designated charge nurse on the unit—lead, coordinate, and prioritize patient care across the ICU
- Provide high-acuity bedside care including ventilator/respiratory management and telemetry interpretation
- Safely titrate critical drips (pressors, sedation, paralytics, antiarrhythmics, heparin, insulin) following hospital protocols
- Respond to codes and rapid responses, acting decisively to stabilize patients and coordinate the team
- Float across ICU subspecialties (MICU, SICU, TICU, CVICU) and stepdown areas as needed to maintain quality coverage
- Troubleshoot respiratory issues in collaboration with RTs and provide hands-on support when RT coverage is limited
- Mentor and support colleagues during shifts, stepping in to take assignments when necessary (more common on night shifts)
Qualifications
- Current RN license eligible for submission (able to meet license requirements for Colorado and travel assignment submission)
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience plus prior charge nurse experience required
- If you are a first-time traveler: 3+ years of ICU experience and prior Epic experience preferred
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications; NIHSS and TNCC required
- Comfortable titrating critical drips and managing ventilated patients
- Ability to float across facilities within a 60-mile zone and arrange housing to support floating
- Willingness to work scheduled weekends and occasional holiday rotations
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Nursing Diploma required; BSN preferred but not required
- Active RN license (eligible for submission) and required certifications as listed
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong clinical judgment in critical care and the ability to prioritize in high-acuity environments
- Proficiency with Epic charting and electronic medical records
- Telemetry interpretation and ability to manage cardiac rhythms and antiarrhythmic therapies
- Experience with ventilators, High Flow, CPAP, BiPAP, and respiratory troubleshooting
- Familiarity with CRRT, IABP, Impella management, and advanced hemodynamic support
- Leadership skills for charge duties: communication, delegation, and rapid decision-making
