Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality critical care nursing for adult and adolescent patients (15+), including neuro, respiratory failure, sepsis, post-op and cardiogenic shock cases
• Titrate vasopressors, sedation, paralytics and other drips safely and according to protocol
• Interpret cardiac telemetry and monitor strips independently using Draeger centralized telemetry
• Troubleshoot ventilators and respiratory equipment from nasal cannula up to ventilator settings as needed
• Perform/assist with advanced hemodynamic monitoring (CVP, Swan-Ganz, EV-1000) and manage ICP monitoring workflows when indicated
• Chart accurately and efficiently in EPIC to maintain clear, timely patient records
• Participate in rapid response teams and codes; provide leadership as needed and collaborate closely with the charge nurse
• Support patient/family education, deliver compassionate bedside care, and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams for optimal outcomes

Qualifications

• Active RN license eligible for submission (License to submit is required)
• Minimum 2 years of acute care/ICU nursing experience
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications and NIHSS certification (required)
• Comfortable titrating drips and managing high-acuity ICU patients
• Valid driver’s license required at time of submittal (used to verify radius rule eligibility)
• Ability to pass a skills-based orientation exam (open book) with a 90% score as part of onboarding
• Willingness to float to inpatient units (excluding Maternity/NICU) and work holidays as scheduled
• Adherence to unit policies (e.g., no artificial nails in patient-care areas)

Education

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license required
• BSN not required (unit indicates no mandatory BSN), relevant acute care nursing education preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care nursing fundamentals: hemodynamics, ventilator basics, sepsis management and ARDS care
• Telemetry/ECG interpretation and arrhythmia recognition
• EPIC electronic charting proficiency
• Experience or comfort with CRRT, Swan-Ganz monitoring, ICP monitoring, and advanced pumps (training available on unit)
• Vasoactive medication titration and infusion pump management
• Strong clinical judgment, communication, teamwork and bedside teaching skills
• Ability to respond decisively in codes and participate in RRTs
