Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver excellent post-anesthesia care in Phase I and Phase II to ensure safe patient recoveries
• Monitor and interpret ECGs, recognizing and responding to life‑threatening rhythms
• Perform pre-op assessments and prepare patients for their procedures with compassion and accuracy
• Float between Mercy Medical Center (MMC) and ORSC recovery as needed to support staffing
• Document patient care accurately in MEDITECH and when required, use paper charting
• Collaborate closely with MAs, charge nurses, and the care team to coordinate efficient patient flow
• Provide patient and family education about recovery, discharge instructions, and follow-up care
• Follow unit protocols for nurse:patient ratios and escalate issues to leadership when appropriate

Qualifications

• Active RN license or eligible to obtain one (OR license not required at time of submittal; facility will support a 90-day emergency license request)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience, preferably in PACU, Pre-Op, or perioperative settings
• Current BLS and ACLS required; PALS preferred
• Experience with MEDITECH required; comfortable with mixed paper charting at ORSC
• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret cardiac rhythms and respond appropriately
• Phase I and Phase II recovery experience required
• Ability to float between facilities and work collaboratively in a team-based environment

Education

• Valid RN (Diploma, ADN, or BSN accepted) — BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of PACU and Pre-Op workflows and recovery phases I & II
• Proficient in MEDITECH electronic charting and comfortable with paper charting when needed
• ECG interpretation and acute rhythm management
• Familiarity with common case mixes: general, GYN, ortho, endo, ENT, eyes, podiatry
• Comfortable working with nurse:patient ratios typical to PACU/recovery (1:1 up to 1:3)
• Good communication and teamwork skills; works well with MAs and charge nurses
• Adaptability to varied start times and floating between sites
