Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality outpatient and inpatient urologic care, including pre- and post-op management
• Perform a range of procedures (cystoscopy, vasectomy, prostate biopsy, instillations such as BCG and Gemzar) with skill and compassion
• Manage OR cases on assigned surgery days and coordinate care with surgical teams
• Conduct clinic visits, seeing new and follow-up patients and maintaining efficient, patient-centered workflows
• Collaborate closely with Advanced Practice Professionals (APPs), medical assistants and front office staff to streamline patient care
• Document thoroughly and accurately in EPIC to ensure continuity and quality of care
• Participate in call rotation, provide consultative services and ensure timely inpatient consultations
• Engage with the Graduate Medical Education program and contribute to teaching and mentoring when appropriate

Qualifications

• MD or DO with completion of an accredited Urology residency
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Urology (Board Eligible candidates must become Board Certified within 6 months)
• Eligible for or holding an active Michigan medical license and ability to complete credentialing (approximate 90-day process)
• Experience with EPIC and clinical documentation
• Demonstrated surgical/OR experience and comfort with common urologic procedures (cystoscopy, prostate biopsy, instillations, urodynamics)
• Comfort working in both inpatient and outpatient settings and collaborating with APPs
• COVID vaccination required unless an approved medical or religious exemption is granted
• Not open to locum tenens, visa-sponsored candidates, 1099 contractors, or candidates who plan commutes longer than one hour or hold another concurrent job

Education

• MD or DO
• Completion of Urology residency
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Urology (if Board Eligible, must obtain certification within 6 months)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong clinical knowledge of urology, surgical techniques and perioperative care
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic medical record workflows
• Skills in cystoscopy, vasectomy, BCG/Gemzar instillation, uroflow/urodynamic testing and prostate biopsy
• Ability to manage inpatient consults and coordinate interdisciplinary care in a Level II trauma facility
• Excellent communication, teaching and team collaboration skills
• Efficient clinic workflow management and patient-centered care orientation
