Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert anesthesia care for complex cardiac surgical procedures including CABG and valve replacements
• Perform pre-operative evaluations and prepare cardiac patients for surgery
• Deliver high-quality intraoperative monitoring and management, including TEE/ECHO-guided care
• Manage post-operative cardiac anesthesia care and collaborate on recovery plans
• Work closely with cardiac surgeons, nursing staff, and other clinicians to optimize patient outcomes
• Contribute to the development and refinement of anesthesia protocols and best practices
• Participate in the established on-call rotation to support urgent and emergent cardiac cases

Qualifications

• ECHO Board Certified and/or completion of a Cardiac Anesthesiology Fellowship (required)
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Anesthesiology
• Active or eligible for New York medical license
• Willingness to provide coverage at both St. Peter's Hospital (Albany) and Samaritan Hospital (Troy)
• Comfort working in a high-volume inpatient heart center with multiple ORs
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills and a collaborative team approach
• Open to H-1B visa candidates (J-1 waivers cannot be accepted); not accepting locum tenens candidates

Education

• MD or DO with completion of Anesthesiology residency
• Cardiac fellowship and/or ECHO board certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Proven competency in Transesophageal Echocardiography (TEE/ECHO)
• Expertise in cardiac anesthesia techniques for CABG, valve surgery, and vascular cases
• Skilled in perioperative patient evaluation and post-operative cardiac care
• Experienced with intraoperative monitoring and managing complex hemodynamics
• Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
• Comfort managing primarily adult and geriatric populations (some pediatric cases possible)
