Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive neuro-ophthalmologic evaluation and care for patients with visual pathway and eye movement disorders
- Diagnose and manage visual problems related to neurologic disease, including sudden or unexplained vision loss
- Perform diagnostic testing such as visual acuity, visual field testing, pupillary reactivity assessment, color perception testing, ocular alignment evaluation, and OCT
- Collaborate closely with neurology, PT, OT, vestibular rehab, social work and support staff to design personalized care plans
- Educate patients and families about diagnoses, prognosis, and treatment plans with compassion and clarity
- Participate in the Multiple Sclerosis partner-in-care program and contribute to multidisciplinary MS management
- Provide general neurology visits as needed while building your specialized practice
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and evidence-based practice in the neurosciences program
Qualifications
- MD or DO (or equivalent medical degree) and completion of residency training
- Board eligible or board certified in the appropriate specialty (must achieve board certification within 2 years of becoming board eligible)
- Not accepting candidates with lapsed board certification who need to re-obtain certification
- Open to H-1B visa candidates; not open to J-1 visa candidates
- Not accepting locum candidates
- Comfortable performing and interpreting neuro-ophthalmologic testing (OCT, visual fields, pupillary testing, etc.)
- Strong communication skills for patient and family education and interdisciplinary collaboration
Education
- MD or DO (or equivalent)
- Completion of residency training in Neurology or Ophthalmology
- Board eligible/certified status required (board certification must be achieved within 2 years if board eligible)
Knowledge & Skills
- Expertise in neuro-ophthalmology evaluation and management
- Proficiency with optical coherence tomography (OCT) and visual field interpretation
- Solid clinical neurology knowledge to support integrated care
- Skilled in patient-centered education and shared decision making
- Comfort working within an interdisciplinary team (nursing, rehab, social work)
- Experience or interest in Multiple Sclerosis care and neurorehabilitation collaboration
- Strong diagnostic reasoning for complex visual pathway disorders
- Ability to adapt to both specialty and general neurology visits as practice evolves
