Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered care to geriatric residents, focusing on dignity and comfort
• Assist residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility
• Take and record vital signs accurately and report any changes in condition to nursing staff
• Support mealtime assistance and ensure residents’ nutritional needs are met
• Maintain clear, timely documentation in resident charts and communicate handoffs effectively
• Follow infection prevention protocols and facility policies to keep residents safe
• Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and support staff to deliver coordinated care

Qualifications

• Current GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) — state certification or eligibility required
• CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain upon hire
• Ability to work night shifts and flexible per diem assignments
• Comfort working with elderly patients and those with varying levels of mobility and cognition
• Clear background check and up-to-date immunizations as required by facility
• Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset

Education

• High school diploma or GED
• Completion of a state-approved GNA/assistive nursing training program

Knowledge & Skills

• Hands-on experience with ADLs and safe patient handling techniques
• Knowledge of basic clinical observations: vitals, skin integrity, hydration monitoring
• Familiarity with infection control practices and PPE use
• Accurate documentation and basic charting skills
• Compassionate bedside manner and patience in geriatric care
• Ability to follow care plans and escalate changes appropriately
