Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate personal care and assistance with activities of daily living for geriatric residents
• Assist with grooming, bathing, dressing, toileting, and safe transfers
• Monitor residents for changes in condition and promptly report concerns to nursing staff
• Support mealtime assistance and ensure residents receive proper nutrition and hydration
• Document resident care activities accurately and timely in the medical record
• Help create a warm, safe, and respectful environment that promotes dignity and independence

Qualifications

• Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification required
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Current CPR/BLS certification is preferred or obtainable upon hire
• Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings is a plus
• Strong communication skills, patience, and a compassionate approach to resident care
• Ability to pass background and health screenings per facility policy

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• GNA certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of basic patient care principles and infection control practices
• Skill in safe resident transfers and use of assistive devices
• Familiarity with documentation and charting best practices
• Ability to observe and report behavioral or clinical changes
• Good interpersonal skills for working with residents, families, and care teams
• Dependability and the ability to follow care plans and direction from licensed staff
