Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate personal care and assistance with activities of daily living for geriatric residents
- Assist with grooming, bathing, dressing, toileting, and safe transfers
- Monitor residents for changes in condition and promptly report concerns to nursing staff
- Support mealtime assistance and ensure residents receive proper nutrition and hydration
- Document resident care activities accurately and timely in the medical record
- Help create a warm, safe, and respectful environment that promotes dignity and independence
Qualifications
- Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification required
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Current CPR/BLS certification is preferred or obtainable upon hire
- Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings is a plus
- Strong communication skills, patience, and a compassionate approach to resident care
- Ability to pass background and health screenings per facility policy
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- GNA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of basic patient care principles and infection control practices
- Skill in safe resident transfers and use of assistive devices
- Familiarity with documentation and charting best practices
- Ability to observe and report behavioral or clinical changes
- Good interpersonal skills for working with residents, families, and care teams
- Dependability and the ability to follow care plans and direction from licensed staff
