Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate personal care and assistance to geriatric residents with dignity and respect
• Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, toileting and feeding
• Monitor residents' basic health indicators and promptly report any changes to nursing staff
• Support mobility, safe transfers and fall-prevention strategies to keep residents safe
• Document care and observations accurately and in a timely manner
• Communicate effectively with residents, families and the interdisciplinary care team
• Maintain a clean, comfortable and safe environment for residents

Qualifications

• Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification required
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Previous experience caring for older adults or in a long-term care setting is preferred
• Ability to pass required background checks, drug screening and health clearance (TB, immunizations)
• Strong communication skills, patience and a person-centered approach to care
• Reliable transportation and ability to travel to the facility as needed

Education

• High school diploma or GED required; GNA certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of geriatrics and age-related care needs
• Infection control and safe hygiene practices
• Basic charting and documentation skills
• Safe resident handling and transfer techniques
• Time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs
• Teamwork and effective communication with clinical staff and families
