Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, and toileting with dignity and respect
• Monitor and record vital signs and report changes in condition to nursing staff promptly
• Provide compassionate companionship and emotional support to residents and families
• Assist with mobility, transfers, and safe use of assistive devices to prevent falls
• Support meal service, feeding assistance, and documentation of intake as needed
• Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control protocols
• Document care accurately and communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team

Qualifications

• Current GNA certification or equivalent (required or state-appropriate credential)
• CPR/BLS certification preferred or required depending on facility policy
• Previous experience caring for geriatric or long-term care residents is a plus
• Ability to pass background checks, drug screening, and meet health requirements
• Strong communication skills and a patient, empathetic approach to care

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of an accredited GNA/CNA training program

Knowledge & Skills

• Familiarity with ADLs and basic nursing care routines
• Basic vital sign measurement and documentation
• Understanding of infection control and safety procedures
• Comfortable assisting with mobility and transfers using safe techniques
• Good charting habits and clear handoff communication
