Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate personal care to residents, promoting dignity and comfort
- Assist with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, and mobility
- Monitor and record vital signs and observe changes in resident condition
- Support safe transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics
- Communicate clearly and respectfully with residents, families, and the care team
- Document care accurately in resident records and report concerns promptly
- Help create a warm, home-like environment that fosters resident well-being
Qualifications
- GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification required
- Previous experience in long-term care or geriatrics preferred but welcoming to motivated newcomers
- Current basic life support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Ability to pass background checks and required health screenings
- Strong communication skills, patience, and a team-player attitude
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a GNA program or CNA training preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Comfort with personal care tasks and resident-centered care
- Basic knowledge of infection control and safe hygiene practices
- Ability to take and document vital signs accurately
- Good observational skills to notice changes in resident condition
- Friendly, respectful communication and teamwork skills
- Familiarity with electronic or paper resident documentation preferred
