Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate hands-on care to residents, supporting daily living activities with dignity and respect
- Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility to promote independence
- Monitor residents’ condition and report changes to nursing staff promptly and professionally
- Document care accurately and timely to ensure continuity and quality
- Support mealtimes and ensure safe feeding practices when needed
- Participate in team huddles and contribute to a positive, collaborative care environment
Qualifications
- Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification or equivalent
- Current CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Valid state-required certifications/licenses and ability to meet facility credentialing
- Ability to pass background check and required health screenings/immunizations
- Comfort working with older adults and assisting with activities of daily living
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work the scheduled per-diem shifts
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an approved GNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong patient care fundamentals and knowledge of geriatrics
- Safe transfer and mobility assistance techniques
- Basic vital signs monitoring and documentation skills
- Infection control and safe hygiene practices
- Clear, compassionate communication with residents, families, and staff
- Teamwork, time management, and adaptability in a fast-paced care setting
