Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, person-centered care to geriatric residents
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming)
- Measure and record vital signs and report changes to the nursing team
- Support mobility and transfers safely, using proper body mechanics
- Document care accurately and communicate clearly with the interdisciplinary team
- Promote a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents
- Engage residents with dignity and respect, encouraging independence
Qualifications
- GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) required
- Current basic life support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Prior experience in long-term care or geriatric settings is a plus
- Demonstrated ability to provide compassionate care and work on a team
- Up-to-date immunizations and background checks as required by facility
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- GNA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of geriatric care needs and common age-related conditions
- Skilled in assisting with ADLs and safe resident handling
- Good communication and documentation skills
- Ability to observe and report changes in resident condition promptly
- Strong interpersonal skills and a patient, respectful approach
