Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with daily living activities like bathing, dressing, and grooming
• Provide compassionate support during meals and help with feeding as needed
• Take and record vital signs accurately and communicate changes to nursing staff
• Help with safe transfers and mobility assistance to promote independence
• Maintain a safe, clean environment and follow infection control practices
• Document care provided and report observations to ensure continuity of care
• Build trusting relationships with residents and support their emotional needs

Qualifications

• Current GNA certification or state-approved Geriatric Nursing Assistant credential
• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Ability to pass background check, drug screen, and required health screenings
• Comfortable with resident lifts and safe patient handling practices
• Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
• Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings is a plus but not required

Education

• High school diploma or GED
• Completion of a GNA training program or equivalent state-approved coursework

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of activities of daily living (ADLs) and elder care basics
• Basic vital sign measurement and routine observations
• Familiarity with infection prevention and resident safety protocols
• Good charting and documentation habits
• Compassionate bedside manner and strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to follow care plans and communicate changes clearly
