Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Provide compassionate, person-centered care to elderly residents
- Monitor and report changes in resident condition to nursing staff promptly
- Support mobility and safe transfers using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
- Document care provided accurately and courteously in resident records
- Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control practices
- Build trusting relationships with residents and their families to enhance quality of life
Qualifications
- Required: Active GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) or equivalent as indicated by the job class
- Preferred: BLS/CPR certification and prior experience caring for older adults
- Ability to pass background check and meet facility immunization requirements
- Strong communication skills and a compassionate bedside manner
- Reliable, punctual, and able to respond to per-diem shift needs
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of basic geriatric care and common age-related conditions
- Skill in assisting with ADLs and maintaining resident dignity
- Familiarity with infection control, safety protocols, and proper documentation
- Ability to follow care plans, take direction from nursing staff, and escalate concerns
- Good interpersonal skills for working with residents, families, and interdisciplinary teams
