Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, respectful personal care to geriatric residents
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Take and record vital signs and observe changes in resident condition
- Support safe mobility and transfers using facility protocols
- Document care accurately and communicate observations to nursing staff
- Assist with meal service and feeding as needed, respecting resident preferences
- Build trusting relationships with residents and their families through clear, kind communication
- Follow infection control, safety, and facility procedures at all times
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification or state-equivalent (required)
- CPR/BLS certification (preferred or obtain upon hire based on facility requirement)
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Previous experience working with elderly or long-term care residents is a plus
- Demonstrated patience, empathy, and strong communication skills
- Ability to pass background checks and required facility screenings
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- GNA certification (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
- Skilled in activities of daily living (ADLs) assistance
- Comfortable taking and documenting vital signs accurately
- Basic infection control and safe handling techniques
- Good observational skills and the ability to report changes clearly
- Teamwork and effective communication with interdisciplinary staff
