Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents — assist with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting)
• Monitor and document vital signs and any changes in condition, communicating concerns to nursing staff
• Assist with safe transfers and mobility to promote independence and prevent falls
• Support mealtime assistance and ensure residents receive appropriate nutrition and hydration
• Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control procedures
• Build trusting relationships with residents and families through respectful, person-centered care
• Accurately document care tasks and report observations in line with facility policies

Qualifications

• Current GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification required
• Active CPR/BLS certification preferred or completed during onboarding
• Ability to pass background check and required health screenings (e.g., TB test, immunizations)
• Comfortable with physical aspects of the role, including lifting and assisting residents
• Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude
• Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings is a plus

Education

• High school diploma or GED
• Completion of an approved GNA program or equivalent training

Knowledge & Skills

• Familiarity with activities of daily living (ADLs) and basic geriatric care
• Ability to take and record vital signs accurately
• Basic infection control and hand hygiene practices
• Safe patient handling and transfer techniques
• Good documentation and observational skills
• Compassionate bedside manner and effective communication with residents and families
